KZESO began manufacturing electric welding equipment in 1959. In the early 1960s, the Paton welding school developed the first K155-type mobile flash-butt rail welding machines, and commercial production based on these developments was mastered by KZESO. In 1964, a research, design and technological bureau connected with the E.O. Paton Electric Welding Institute was established at the plant, helping shorten the path from welding research and engineering development to industrial equipment.
Further generations of mobile and stationary rail welding machines followed. Published research from the Paton welding school documents the continuing development of KZESO-manufactured equipment for continuously welded rail, high-strength rails and demanding field applications.
For our customers, this heritage has practical value: KZESO does not approach rail welding as a single machine design. We approach it as a complete technological process that must work reliably in real railway conditions.
Continuously welded rail places exceptional demands on the welding process. A welded joint must combine strength, geometry and repeatability while being produced under demanding industrial or field conditions. The quality of the result depends on the complete process — not on one component alone.
That is why KZESO develops the welding system around the joint: rail clamping and alignment, continuous or pulsed flashing, upsetting, flash removal, hydraulic performance, cooling, power supply, programmable control and weld data recording. Depending on the application, these functions are integrated into a mobile welding machine, a stationary machine, a containerised system or a complete road-rail welding complex.
Modern KZESO rail welding equipment combines mechanical engineering with programmable process control. Depending on the machine and configuration, KZESO solutions use Siemens PLC-based control systems and WeldReg KZESO™ technology to manage welding parameters, monitor the welding cycle and record data for individual welded joints.
Digital process control supports repeatable welding cycles, real-time monitoring, identification of process deviations and traceable documentation of completed welds. Application-specific equipment can also include continuous and pulsed flashing, automatic or operator-controlled rail alignment, integrated flash removal, high-force hydraulic systems and closed-loop cooling.
KZESO rail welding machines and complexes have accumulated operating experience in more than 100 countries. Historical KZESO records report more than 2,500 rail welding machines across five continents, while independent railway-industry coverage has also highlighted the company’s international deployment.

High-Speed Rail Production — Morocco
A K1100 Stationary Flash-Butt Rail Welding Machine was installed and commissioned in Morocco for the production of continuously welded rail for high-speed railway lines designed for operating speeds exceeding 300 km/h. The project demonstrates KZESO’s capability to integrate high-productivity stationary flash-butt welding technology into an established rail production environment.
Mobile Rail Welding Complexes — Poland
Poland is one of KZESO’s long-running reference markets for integrated mobile rail welding equipment. The reference history records KCM005 and KCM007 complexes with K922-1 welding technology from 2011 onward, including further KCM007 projects in 2014, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2023 and 2025, followed by a K922-1 delivery in 2026. This repeated deployment demonstrates the practical long-term use of KZESO mobile flash-butt welding technology in a major European railway market.
Long-Term Field Operation — Myanmar and Vietnam
A KCM007 mobile rail welding complex equipped with K922-1 was supplied to Myanmar in 2019. KZESO later reported that this complex completed more than 8,000 welded joints under demanding field conditions before continuing operation in Vietnam. The case demonstrates the value of an integrated mobile system where welding equipment, mobility, power, hydraulics, cooling and process control work together as one operational platform.
Mobile Welding Machines — United States
KZESO’s reference history documents repeated deliveries of mobile flash-butt rail welding machines to the United States. K922-2, K920A-1 and K930-1 machines were supplied during 2010–2016, with particularly intensive repeat deliveries of K920A-1 machines in 2014–2016. This delivery history demonstrates sustained application of KZESO mobile rail welding equipment in the North American market.
K950 Mobile Rail Welding Machines — Great Britain and Hong Kong
K950 machines were repeatedly supplied for railway applications in Great Britain and Hong Kong. The reference history records K950 deliveries to Great Britain during 2015 and 2018 and repeated deliveries to Hong Kong during 2017–2020. The use of the same machine family across different railway markets illustrates the adaptability of KZESO mobile flash-butt welding technology to different operating environments.
Containerised Stationary Welding — Australia, Morocco and Saudi Arabia
KZESO has also implemented containerised solutions based on stationary rail welding technology. The reference history records K1000 container complexes supplied to Saudi Arabia and Australia in 2013, Morocco in 2014 and Australia again in 2016. These projects demonstrate how stationary flash-butt welding equipment can be integrated into a protected, transportable system for projects requiring a more complete installation rather than a standalone welding machine.
Specialised Switch Welding — K924
The K924 Stationary Flash-Butt Rail Welding Machine was supplied for specialised railway-switch applications in South Korea, Ukraine and Kazakhstan. The documented installations span 2005–2013. These references demonstrate KZESO’s experience not only in conventional rail welding but also in specialised welding tasks for railway switch components.
